Description

The visibility was good last night, so I wanted to attempt the imaging of a very small and difficult object. This is Hubble's Variable Nebula (NGC2261) located in the constellation Monoceros. It is illuminated by a star behind this reflection nebula. The clouds of gas and dust changes shape over time, which makes this nebula look like a small comet.  The object is only 2' x 1' in apparent size, which required me to use my 8" HD Edge at its natural focal length (2032mm).  While the stars aren't perfect, I am fairly pleased with the results.
